In modern industrial and logistics operations, reliable and efficient cable systems are essential to ensure uninterrupted power supply and control for moving equipment. One cable that has gained recognition for its robustness, flexibility, and low electromagnetic interference is the (N)GRDGCGOEU Low Voltage Screened Festoon Cable. Designed specifically for festoon systems, gantry cranes, hall cranes, material handling equipment, and similar applications, this cable combines advanced materials, precise engineering, and compliance with international standards such as DIN VDE 0250-814.

How Does the Cable Perform in Extreme Conditions?

The (N)GRDGCGOEU cable is engineered for industrial environments with high mechanical stresses, temperature extremes, and chemical exposure:

  • Temperature Resistance: -50°C to +80°C for fixed installation; -35°C to +80°C for fully flexible operation. Maximum conductor temperature 90°C, short-circuit temperature 250°C.

  • Mechanical Strength: Max tensile load of 15 N/mm². Not suitable for torsional stress.

  • Chemical and Environmental Resistance: Complies with DIN EN 60811-404 for oil resistance, and is resistant to UV, ozone, and moisture, making it suitable for indoor and outdoor applications.

These specifications make the cable ideal for Indonesian industrial conditions, including tropical humidity, heat, and outdoor crane operations.

Where Can the (N)GRDGCGOEU Cable Be Applied?

The cable is primarily used in festoon systems, where a cable moves along with trolleys, cranes, or other movable equipment. Specific applications include:

  • Gantry Cranes & Hall Cranes: Provides power and control signals to the crane motors, hoists, and sensors.

  • Rack Material Handling Equipment: Ensures reliable energy supply for conveyor systems and automated warehouse robots.

  • Machine Tools & Manufacturing Lines: Enables smooth operation of movable machine components.

  • Transportation Systems: Suitable for automated guided vehicles (AGVs) and trolley-based power systems.

Key advantage: Its screened design prevents EMI, which is essential in factories where sensitive data cables coexist with high-power cables.

How Does the Cable Compare with Other Festoon Cables?

To help engineers select the right cable, here’s a comparison between (N)GRDGCGOEU and a standard (N)GRDGOEU festoon cable:

What Are Use Cases in Indonesia?

In Indonesia, industrial growth in ports, mining, and manufacturing has increased demand for flexible and durable festoon cables. Some notable examples include:

  1. Jakarta Port Container Cranes: (N)GRDGCGOEU cables supply power to crane trolleys and gantries, ensuring uninterrupted operation during heavy-duty container handling.

  2. Surabaya Manufacturing Plant: Material handling systems with automated guided vehicles rely on screened cables to avoid interference with control and data lines.

  3. Mining Operations in Kalimantan: The cable powers mobile hoists and conveyor systems in humid, dusty, and high-temperature conditions.

These use cases demonstrate the cable’s adaptability to harsh environmental conditions while maintaining reliable performance.

How Should the (N)GRDGCGOEU Cable Be Installed?

Proper installation is critical to maximize performance and cable life:

  1. Festoon Loops: Ensure the cable loop allows free movement without torsion.

  2. Avoid Oversized Cross-Sections: Do not exceed 3×50 mm² for festoon applications; larger cross-sections reduce flexibility and increase mechanical strain.

  3. Grounding: Correctly connect the screen and earth conductor to avoid short-circuit issues.

  4. Bending Radius: Respect the minimum bending radius per DIN VDE 0298 part 3.

  5. Speed Considerations: Festoon trolleys can travel up to 240 m/min, but consult the manufacturer for higher speeds.
